It’s mid- January, and I’m already experiencing setbacks. My plans to attend a challenging exercise class twice a week, a class that had previously been canceled and finally come back, fell through due to the onset of flu like symptoms that kept me in bed the second I got home from work until the next morning. My relationship with my mother had been going rather well, until a most surreal encounter left me wondering how politely asking her to close the garage door so the animals wouldn’t get out made me a bitch? Combine this with constant work issues and damn it, I start to feel a little disheartened. It’s meaningful and honest songs like Tupac’s “Keep your Head Up” that help me navigate through these negative emotions, ultimately leading me to the realization that life must go on.
