The founding artistic director of Miami City Ballet has returned to choreography.
This time, Edward Villella has created an ice skating ballet. “Reveries” will debut Oct. 24 at the Sky Rink at the Chelsea Piers in Manhattan.

A former New York City ballet star, Villella founded Miami City Ballet in 1986. He left the Miami Beach-based company in September 2012 and returned to New York City, his hometown.
Villella says “Reveries” is a “lush, romantic ballet about unattainable love.” The work was commissioned by the Ice Theatre of New York.
The last time Villella, 76, choreographed an ice ballet was in 1977 for a Dorothy Hamill television special.
Since he left Florida, Villella has coached dancers at the Cincinnati Ballet and the University of Arizona!!!
