ANGELINA JOLIE will be getting an Oscar this year – but not for her acting!

The 38-year-old actress and mom of six is one of four stars who will be given a special Oscar, called the Governor’s Award, in recognition of their humanitarian work. Angelina is a United Nations special envoy and has spoken out against human rights abuses. She also has her own foundation, the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation, named after her oldest son, whom she adopted from Cambodia.The Governors Awards pay tribute to individuals who’ve made indelible contributions in their respective fields,” the Academy’s president, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, said in a statement.I’m so proud to win an honorary Oscar this year with @THEACADEMY, So much love & joy to u all, thank you! The new Oscar can go on Angelina’s mantel next to her other awards. She also has an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the flick Girl, Interrupted. The other award recipients are actress Angela Lansbury, comedian Steve Martin, and Italian costume designer Piero Tosi.Recently, Angelina bravely went public with her story of having a double mastectomy. Her beloved mom, Marcheline Bertrand, died of ovarian cancer, and Angelina made the bold move to protect herself when she found out she was at risk of also having the disease. Her fiance, BRAD PITT, spoke out in support of Angelina’s decision. The first portrait done of Angelina post-surgery is being auctioned off, with the proceeds going to Falling Whistles, a humanitarian group working in the Congo.Angelina has said that she got involved in humanitarian work after making the movie Beyond Borders, where she played an activist.
The Governor’s Awards will be given out during a special Academy celebration in November!!!
